Subject: [CR]RE: FAEMA TEAM FRAME REPLICA & No-Name Campy Brakes

In 1969, Masi built the Faema frames. Below is a link to a '69 replica 
built by Alberto Masi, earlier this year,  with parts laying around the 
shop.  He used the cut-out stays, but I don't think all Faema frames came 
with them. The current owner is still collecting the period correct parts, 
including No-Name brakes. 

Masi said the brakes were "unnamed" because of a sponsorship conflict 
between Faema and Universal.  Masi said  Tullio Campagnolo wanted Merckx 
to ride his new brakes and Universal agreed only if they were not stamped 
Campagnolo in large photogenic type. Masi also said that Campagnolo 
offered to sell the patent to Universal.  The folks at Universal declined 
because they didn't think anyone would pay the high retail price for them, 
they were about triple the price of Super 68s...

Subject: [CR]Faema team frame

Hi listers..
I'm in the process of re-creating a 'Faema white & red team bike circa 
68/69' I have everything needed, including the desirable no name Campag 
brakes, however getting hold of a Cinelli 1a 13cm stem with the nut & 
bolt is proving difficult......anyway, my question to the folk who know 
about these things is;-      DID THE FRAMES HAVE CUTOUTS OR WHERE THEY 
LEFT PLAIN?
I believe the frames where made by 'Kessler?' but could be wrong, maybe 
Masi? I have several pics of Merckx etc on the bikes but there is never 
a decent shot of the frame, especially around the lugs.........I think 
they may have had a heart shape cut out, probably on all 3 lugs, but 
anyone know for sure..............
